A Leek vintage store’s trade has been hit after thieves swiped their promotional bicycles.DSC_0068

The bikes were placed on Derby Street to attract passersby into the secluded Getliffe’s Yard, where Molly’s Maison store and tearoom is located.

But since the bikes were taken, the shop has suffered a sharp decline in customers.

“It’s not just the cost of the bikes, it is the loss of trade that is hurting us more. No one knows we are here without them”, said co-owner John Edmunds.

“We have worked really hard to get the store up and running and now, due to mindless idiots, we are really struggling to keep going.

“If anyone can help with the whereabouts of the bikes, I am happy to offer a small reward.”

The thieves were caught walking away with the bikes on CCTV at 2.15am on September 15.

Both in their 20s, one was wearing a yellow and black checked shirt and the other a dark hooded top.

It is not the first time bikes have been stolen from a shop in the area.

Last year another store in Getliffe’s Yard had their advertising bike taken, but it was later recovered.

Anyone with information should contact PC Richard Leake at Staffordshire Police on 101, quoting incident umber 194 of September 17. Or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
